Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a nuclear and a joint family?
A nuclear family is parents and their children living together; a joint family also includes grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins in the same home.
My child calls a cousin 'brother'. Is that a mistake on the worksheet?
In everyday speech it is common, but the worksheet asks for the formal relationship: your uncle's or aunt's child is a cousin. Drawing the tree makes the distinction visible.
Is this part of EVS?
Yes. Family types, relationships, shared responsibilities, parts of a home and home safety form the family-and-home unit of Grade 3 EVS.
