How to use this worksheet

The single biggest Grade 2 slip is the missing s on present-tense verbs after he, she or it. Have your child read their finished answer aloud pointing at the verb - the ear catches 'she walk' immediately even when the eye does not.

Are exclamation marks being overused?

Very commonly at this grade. A useful test: would you actually shout this sentence? If not, a full stop is the right choice.

My child writes 'goed' and 'runned'. Is something wrong?

No - that is actually a good sign. It means your child has learned the add-ed rule and is applying it everywhere. The irregular forms are simply memorised exceptions and come with exposure.

How many adjectives should a Grade 2 sentence have?

One well-chosen adjective is stronger than three stacked ones. If your child writes 'big huge large dog', ask them to pick the best single word.
