Frequently asked questions

Why practise the 9 times table pattern?

Because the digits of each answer add to nine, which gives your child a quick way to check that 9 x 7 is 63 and not 62.

How much of the tables should be memorised by Grade 3?

Most syllabuses expect tables to 10 to be recalled without counting. Repeated addition remains a valid backup, but it slows down two-digit work considerably.

My child adds when they should multiply. How do I fix it?

Have them draw the groups. Four boxes of three pencils drawn out makes the difference between 4 + 3 and 4 x 3 immediately obvious.
