How to use this worksheet

Say every word out loud before writing anything. Phonics is a sound skill printed on paper, and a Grade 2 child who reads silently will guess from the first letter. If a word is read wrongly, cover all but the first sound and uncover the rest slowly rather than correcting the whole word at once.

What are sight words doing on a phonics sheet?

Words such as said, come and one break the usual rules, so they must be learned by memory. Mixing a few into phonics practice stops a child from trying to sound out words that cannot be sounded out.

Is this suitable if my child is behind in reading?
