How do I know when to move on to the next worksheet?

When your child can say a two-digit number as tens and ones without pausing, and build it with objects on the first try, the concept is secure enough to move on.

My child can count to 100 but cannot say how many tens are in 60. Why?

Counting is a sequence learned by ear; place value asks the child to see 60 as six groups. They are different skills, and the second one always arrives later. Grouping real objects into tens is the fastest bridge between them.

Why does my child write 51 instead of 15?

Digit reversal is very common in Grade 1 and is usually a position problem, not a number problem. Labelled 'tens' and 'ones' columns, used for a week or two, clear it up for most children.
