How much detail should a Grade 5 answer contain?

Enough to name the process and its inputs - for photosynthesis, sunlight, water and carbon dioxide, and the leaf as the place it happens. Correct terminology matters more at this grade than at any earlier one.

My child confuses photosynthesis and respiration. Any tips?

Very common, because both involve gases. Anchor it by purpose: photosynthesis makes food and happens mainly in the light; respiration releases energy from that food and happens all the time, in plants as well as animals.

Are decomposers included?

Yes, food-web questions at Grade 5 usually include decomposers, since energy returning to the soil is part of the expected picture at this level.
