How many lines of symmetry does a rectangle have?

Two, not four. Children often add the diagonals, which is worth testing by folding a paper rectangle corner to corner and seeing that it does not match.

Do we need shape blocks at home?

Not specially bought ones. A tissue box, a ball, a tin and an ice-cream cone cover every 3D shape on this sheet.

Why does my child undercount the faces of a cube?

Because a picture shows only three. Handling a real cube and marking each face as it is counted solves it - this is the single most common Grade 2 error in this topic.
